How it works
Discrete sine presets at exactly 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, 100, 150, and 200 Hz are played with a click-free envelope through createTone, and a 30 to 250 Hz logarithmic sweep runs over 14 seconds through createSweep with a live frequency readout. Nothing is uploaded or recorded, and no sound plays until you ask for it.
A bass test checks whether your system truly reproduces the bottom octaves. Play discrete sine tones at 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, 100, 150, and 200 Hz to find your clean extension limit, then run the 30–250 Hz logarithmic sweep with its live frequency readout to hear room modes and integration. Discrete bass tones
Each preset is a continuous sine at exactly the labelled frequency with a click-free attack and release. Work upward from 30 Hz at a low volume. Buzzing or a tone that suddenly jumps in level marks the limit of your speaker, not your hearing.
Slow 30–250 Hz sweep
The sweep runs logarithmically from 30 Hz to 250 Hz over 14 seconds with a live readout. Walk the room while it plays: peaks that follow you are room modes, and a null that stays put is a cancellation worth treating with placement before equalisation.

Frequently asked questions
Why can't I hear the 30 Hz tone on my phone?
Phone and laptop speakers roll off steeply below about 100–200 Hz, so 30–60 Hz tones may be silent or appear only as faint buzzing. Use full-range speakers or a subwoofer for this test.
How do I use the discrete preset tones?
Pick a preset from 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, 100, 150, or 200 Hz and press Play preset tone. Each plays a continuous click-free sine. Note the lowest frequency with clean output and stop if you hear buzzing or port noise.
What does the 30–250 Hz sweep tell me?
The 14-second logarithmic sweep gives each octave equal time, so you can feel where output fades in, where room modes peak, and where rattles appear. Sudden booms or dropouts point to placement or crossover issues.
Is bass heard or felt?
Below roughly 40–60 Hz bass is felt as much as heard — pressure, chest movement, or room vibration. Judge the lowest presets by air movement and rattles as well as tone.
Is this safe for my speakers and hearing?
Start at a low volume and keep gains modest — bass at high gain can distort or damage cheap speakers. Sound starts only from a button you press, Stop and Mute are always available, and levels are reported in dBFS, relative to full scale, never in SPL.
