How it works

Sweeps are generated live in your browser with the Web Audio API using scheduled oscillator ramps. Nothing is uploaded or recorded. Levels are reported in dBFS, relative to full scale.

A sweep generator plays a tone that glides smoothly from one frequency to another. Instead of listening to a single fixed pitch, you hear the whole range in one pass, which makes it fast to spot a speaker that drops out, a room resonance, or a frequency you cannot hear. Everything is generated live with the Web Audio API, so no file is uploaded and nothing is recorded.

Frequency sweep for speaker and headphone testing

Set a start and end frequency, choose a duration, and press play. A slow sweep from 20 Hz to 20 kHz traces the full audible band in a few seconds, exposing buzzing cabinets, rattling panels, and drivers that roll off early. Pair it with the tone generator when you want to stop on a specific frequency.

Linear sweep generator

A linear sweep moves by a constant number of hertz per second, so it covers low frequencies slowly and high frequencies quickly. Use it when the measurement or demonstration is defined in hertz, such as a fixed-bandwidth measurement.

Logarithmic sweep generator

A logarithmic sweep moves by a constant ratio per second. Because pitch is perceived logarithmically, a log sweep sounds smooth and even and spends equal time in every octave. This is the default and the right choice for hearing-range and octave-based work.

Percussive sweep

Percussive mode fires a sequence of short chirps rather than one continuous glide. The gaps between chirps give your ears a reference point, which makes this mode well suited to quick screening tests.

Start at a low volume and never raise the volume to make a sweep audible. High frequencies in particular can be uncomfortable. Sweeps play only from a user gesture and the transport provides a persistent Stop and Mute.
