How ABX Statistical Significance Works

If you flip an unbiased coin, the probability of guessing right by sheer luck is 50% (p = 0.5). Therefore, getting 2 or 3 correct answers out of 3 proves nothing about your hearing.

Our engine computes the exact upper-tail cumulative binomial probability:

In rigorous scientific evaluation, we require p ≤ 0.05 (over 95% statistical confidence) to reject the null hypothesis of random guessing. This requires at minimum 5 out of 5 correct,8 out of 9, or 9 out of 10.
